Athletic Incentive

It is the policy of the Board of Trustees to sponsors intercollegiate athletics in order to provide enhanced opportunities for student development and sportsmanship.

 

Intercollegiate Athletics

Intercollegiate athletics are available to male and female students. The number of activities will be governed by the students’ needs and interest, by the financial capability of Shawnee Community College, and by the best interest of Shawnee Community College’s instructional program.

Intercollegiate athletics play an important role in the educational process of Shawnee Community College students. The College offers a wide range of recreational sports and athletics for students.

Shawnee Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. All teams participate in Division I, Region 24 and National Tournaments.

 

Athletic Incentive

Shawnee Community College maintains a yearly goal of 40% participation by district residents on each team, which shall be reported yearly to the Board of Trustees. In order to recognize the successful recruiting efforts of coaches and college staff, a yearly incentive of up to $1,000 shall be awarded to the supply and travel budget of each team having 40% or more participation by district residents. This incentive award may be used for approved team expenses.
