ULLIN, IL (June 20, 2023) – Shawnee Community College President Dr. Tim Taylor has been recognized by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association for his leadership.

Dr. Taylor was recently nominated for the ICCTA’s Gary W. Davis Ethical Leadership Award. Although he was not selected, ICCTA has acknowledged Dr. Taylor’s contributions to the education system in Illinois. He received a medal and certificate.

“I am deeply honored and extremely grateful for the recognition expressed by the Shawnee Community College Board of Trustees, whose partnership and counsel I value greatly,” said Dr. Taylor.

With decades of administrative experience, Dr. Taylor became SCC’s ninth president in 2020. He continues to work with college and community leaders to create opportunities for those living and working in southern Illinois.

“Dr. Taylor leads by example. You’ll find him front and center when it’s time to participate in activities like campus cleanup days, parades, and other community events. Dr. Taylor espouses the virtues of compassion and citizenship at every opportunity, whether digging holes to build a new fence, riding his Harley in a parade, or walking side-by-side with our students, faculty, and staff,” said SCC Board Member James Darden.
