Mission/Purpose: The Human Resources Council (HRC) is a collaborative body committed to creating a positive, equitable work environment by developing policies and operating standards that advance equity and inclusion. Through partnership and
open dialogue, the Council aligns human resource initiatives with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals, ensuring employees are supported and empowered to thrive.
Scope of Responsibility: The HR Council shall:
- Provide thoughtful recommendations to the Executive Director of Human Resources (EDHR) on strategic initiatives that promote equity and inclusion across the College.
- Partner with other governance councils and administrative teams to identify opportunities for enhancing the College’s climate and culture.
- Establish or suspend committees, as needed, utilizing ad-hoc groups to research, analyze, and present recommendations that support the Council’s goals.
Policy Responsibility: Human Resources (A4000, A4100, A4200, A4300, & A4400).
HLC Criterion: 1.C.2.; 1.C.3; and 3.C.1.
Priorities for FY26: Review administrative policies and operating standards to ensure they are free of implicit and explicit biases (3.1.E); and review and revise HR operating standards to ensure equity (3.1.F).
Reporting: The HRC reports to the EDHR, who carefully reviews all Council recommendations. Recommendations that reflect best practices and comply with applicable laws will be endorsed by the Executive Director and forwarded to the Executive Council for approval.
Composition: Faculty (4), Staff (5), Administration (3)
Meeting Dates: Second Thursday of the month from 1:00p – 3:00p.
