SCC Men’s Basketball Prevails in a Tough Matchup against Olney Central in 77- 74 overtime win

 

The Shawnee Saints Men’s baseball team dealt visiting Olney Central a 77-74 overtime loss last night in Ullin. Despite a stellar 27-point performance by Blue Knights sophomore C.E. Talton, the Saints prevailed. OC’s Talton rifled in four treys and scored 19 second-half points but could not keep up with the Saints squad’s pressure.  In addition to Talton, J.J. Kalakon had 11 for OCC (7-4, 10-5).

For the Saints, sophomore Duke Harden and freshman Ryan Gordan led the team (5-4, 5-5) with 17 points each. Keon Jones scored 12 points, and Chris Ward had 10. Shawnee led 35-32 at halftime, and the game entered overtime tied at 67-all. SCC’s Head Coach John Sparks said, “The guys have demonstrated a tenacity this season that has served us well.” I am pleased with how we are progressing this season and feel confident that we are going into the weekend better prepared for high-pressure intensity after tonight’s win.”
