Smart Classrooms

The Smart Classrooms session will introduce attendees to the technology available within classrooms that are set up using the “Smart Classrooms” template.

This template includes classrooms with:

  • Multiple monitors
  • Classroom TV displays
  • Software used to display/record content (Zoom, Epic Pen, etc.)
  • Hardware that is available in some new classroom setups (StreamDeck, etc.)

There will be opportunities for attendees to practice with this new setup during the session.

Easy Video Production

This session will be held in SCC’s One Button Studio. Participants will be introduced to the studio and to how it can be used to quickly create professional-looking videos to share with students.

SmartEvals

SmartEvals is SCC’s new course evaluation system. This session will introduce participants to SmartEvals and how it works. We will also explore the reports that instructors can view to assess student evaluation responses. Finally, instructors will be provided with tips to maximize student participation in their course evaluations.

Making Accessible Documents

The goal of this session is to educate participants on how to create documents that are accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual impairments, mobility impairments, and cognitive impairments. This training will provide hands-on experience and practical tips for making documents more accessible.

This session on Making Accessible Documents using Microsoft Word will cover the following
topics:

  • Understanding accessibility and why it is important
  • Setting up Microsoft Word to check for accessibility issues
  • Creating headings, lists, and tables to improve document structure
  • Adding alternative text to images and graphics
  • Using styles to format text consistently
  • Creating accessible hyperlinks
  • Using the Accessibility Checker to review and fix any remaining issues

Turnitin.com

The goal of this session is to introduce the features and functionality of Turnitin.com, and provide instructors with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively use the platform in their classes.

The training will focus on best practices for using Turnitin to assess student work, provide feedback, and
promote academic integrity.

  • Overview of Turnitin and its features
  • Setting up a class and enrolling students
  • Creating and assigning papers and originality reports
  • Interpreting and using the similarity report
  • Customizing the originality report settings
  • Managing and grading papers

Accessible Instructional Videos: A Guide to Captioning

This one-hour workshop is designed to help faculty ensure that their instructional videos for online and traditional classes are accessible to all students, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
 
The workshop will provide step-by-step instructions on how to add captions to instructional videos, covering both automatic and manual captioning methods.

Proctorio Training

Proctorio is SCC’s online proctoring services. This session will inform instructors how to properly set up and use Proctorio for tests created within Moodle classrooms.

Instructors will learn:

  • How Proctorio works
  • How to set up Proctorio for students to use
  • How to set up Proctorio within their test’s settings
  • How to help troubleshoot issues students have using Proctorio
  • How to access Proctorio’s reports on student testing sessions
