Anatomy & Physiology Professional Tutor (part-time up to 29 hours per week)

Reports To:           Student Success Director

 

SUMMARY Student Success Center professional tutors provide academic support to the College’s students through one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in subjects in which the tutor is hired to support. Under general supervision of the anatomy and physiology lab coordinator and science department chair, tutors will assist anatomy and physiology students in learning anatomical structures and physiological concepts, which requires a strong content knowledge, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.

 

Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of service, learns and uses operating practices of the department at the College.

 

Uphold the College’s mission statement.

 

Attend trainings and professional development opportunities as needed.

 

Tutor students in specific course material and integrate study skills and learning strategies to promote independent learning. Discuss skills and strategies such as: time management, study strategies, and navigating the College environment.

 

Keep and maintain regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using the appropriate forms in the Student Success Center.

 

Develop good understanding and knowledge of College services, support, and resources. Research and share student resources such as Moodle, Purdue OWL, and MySCC student portal.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Required – Bachelor’s Degree English, mathematics or science.

 

Preferred – Master’s Degree in English, mathematics or science.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
