Buybacks #
Buybacks are conducted at the end of each semester during the week of finals.
The Bookstore purchases eligible textbooks at fair market value until appropriate inventory levels have been reached. Buyback prices are not available in advance and are determined during Buyback Week based on current market value, inventory needs and the condition of the textbook.
Student ID Number: Students must provide their Student ID Number in order sell back their
textbooks.
Book Condition: Bookstore staff will evaluate each textbook to determine its condition and eligibility for buyback.
Damaged Books: Textbooks with missing or torn pages, missing covers, water damage, or other significant damage will not be eligible for buyback.
Buyback Period: Textbook buybacks are only available during the designated Buyback Week. After the buyback period ends, students must wait until the next scheduled buyback period to inquire about selling their textbooks.
Books on Loan: Textbooks issued through programs such as Perkins are not eligible for cash buybacks. These books must be returned to their appropriate programs.
Scholarship, Honors Escrow, and Waiver books: Books loaned out to students falling into these categories are required to return all textbooks loaned out to them during the designated Buyback Week to avoid additional charges being applied to the student’s account.
Rental Textbooks: All rental textbooks are required to be returned during the Buyback time period in which they were rented. Failure to return a rental book will result in the full charge of the book to be applied to the students SCC account.
