In addition to these outstanding academic achievements, there is a distinction that makes this years graduation apart from the rest. Five students from the Vienna High School Class of 2014 have not only completed their requirements for high school graduation, but also have completed their Associates' degree at Shawnee Community College. Alyssa Paciencia Ferguson, Robert Trenton Lowery, Ashton Nicole Loyd, Assiah Nicole Mercer, and Lucas Scott Wright were among the other college graduates of SCC on Friday, May 16, 2014. One student from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School has also completed the requirements for high school graduation and earned her Associates' degree at SCC. Jodie Casleton of AJCHS was also among the other SCC graduating class of 2014 (Not pictured).
SCC's President Dr. Tim Bellamey praised the students and the partnerships between Shawnee Community College, Vienna High School, and Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He stated, "These students are to be commended for achieving this milestone. This is very difficult to accomplish and requires tremendous dedication and effort. A strong dual enrollment partnership between SCC, VHS, and AJCHS helped make this possible."
Jean Ellen Boyd, SCC's Dean of Instructional Services commented, "What an outstanding accomplishment! These students have gone above and beyond to reach some remarkable goals and I am very excited that SCC was a part of their continued educational plan."
Vickie Artman, SCC's Vice President of Instructional Services stated, "These students have challenged themselves to take their education to a higher level while simultaneously completing the requirements for high school. I congratulate them in meeting their academic goals and wish them much success and happiness."
