SHAWNEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE ADULT EDUCATION OFFERING NEW TRANSITION CLASSES 1/12/09
Shawnee Community College Adult Education is reaching out to the employment community by opening a "bridge" between adult education students and employment opportunities in the five county area. The goal is to assist adults in basic skills attainment through the use of contextualized curriculum in employability skills, computer skills, life skills, career preparation, and career guidance.
Key features will include job skills training with a balance between classroom and individualized instruction, foundations for entry level skills in a variety of employment opportunities, job shadowing, job interest surveys and certification of skills mastered. This class will also benefit employers by providing a trained workforce and exposure to potential employees. Limited supportive services will be provided.
The classes will be held at the SCC Anna and Cairo Extension Centers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon, enrollment is open entry, students may enroll any day class is offered, classes are ongoing throughout the semester and there is no cost to the student. The classes are designed to serve students that may or may not have a high school diploma, ages 18 or older.
