TJ Simmons Signs Letter of Intent with Shawnee

TJ Simmons has received a full scholarship to play baseball for Shawnee Community College in Illinois, signing a letter of intent to join the Saints' baseball team for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Shawnee's baseball coach Greg Sheppard welcomed Breckinridge County High School left handed pitcher and centerfielder along with his parents, Timmy and Valeria Simmons of Hardinsburg, Kentucky, to the main campus.
Simmons pitched 58 innings this year for the Breckinridge County Tigers and has done an outstanding job for his team. He led the team in innings pitched and has the highest batting average on the team .462. As the leadoff batter at Breck County, he had 42 hits, 16 RBI's, 11 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run and 26 walks. When he is not pitching for the Tiger's he's in centerfield playing defense for the team.
Shawnee Community College is a member of the Mid-West Athletic Conference. The Saints will face teams from Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Western Kentucky.
Simmons is pursuing an associate degree in Criminal Justice.
