Shawnee Community College hosted the 3rd annual Future Teacher Camp for area students. On the first day of camp Middle School and High School students joined SCC Education students in small group activities. Using the technology at the college, they researched and planned lessons; they taught their lessons in the interactive video rooms; and decorated various bulletin boards throughout the college. Their day also included special speakers that encouraged these students to continue their education and explore various fields of education.
The second day of camp included a field trip to SIU/C. The day began with a tram tour of the campus. The students benefited from hearing from representatives of the SIU Education Department. They received information on scholarships and tips on how to successfully plan for a college career. Wrapping up the camp, the students enjoyed swimming and sports at the Recreational Center on campus.
