Lady Saints Basketball Team Signs Takena Taylor
The Shawnee Community College Saints Women's Basketball team signs Takena Taylor to a National Letter of Intent for the 2015-2016 team. Takena attended Cairo High School in Cairo, IL. She is the daughter of DeAngella Taylor.
Takena was a four-year varsity starter for Cairo High School that saw great success over her four-year career. To just name a few of her many honors, Takena scored over a 1000 points in her high school career. She helped lead her team to 3 regional tiles over her four-year career. For her senior year Takena averaged at 17.1 points per a game. Takena also qualified for the state finals of the 3pt competition in Peoria, IL during her senior year.
Takena's high school coach, Kelly Sheppard, said, Shawnee Community College is getting a great girl and an outstanding basketball player. "Takena is an excellent shooter who also is very smooth in transition. She has the potential to do great things at Shawnee."
New women's basketball coach, Luke Scheidecker, said, "I am very excited about getting a player of Takena's ability. She is a winner who has had great success at Cairo. Takena is a great shooter who will stretch the floor for us. Takena has a great feel for the game and is very smooth. Takena has a bright future ahead of her on and off the basketball court.
