Course Makes Medical Personnel More Employable
ULLIN - The nation's fast-growing Hispanic population creates a need for more medical personnel who can speak Spanish, says the Shawnee Community College Spanish instructor, and the college is offering a course to fill that gap.
The need for medical professionals with the ability to speak in English and Spanish is in big demand and will only continue to grow," said Monyshka Harpalani.
Harpalani is offering a Spanish for Medical Personnel course at the college. The course accomplishes the skill areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. It also provides basic vocabulary for human anatomy.
"It is a way for students entering the healthcare field to become more employable," Harpalani explained. "The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a tremendous asset now and will be an even greater asset in the future."
