Softball Signs
Three
5/18/06
Shawnee Community College softball coach Kim
Palmer recently signed three additional players for the 2006-2007 school year.
Megan Snow, a senior at Murray High School in Murray, KY, has signed a letter
of intent to play softball at Shawnee Community College. She is the daughter
of David and Penny Snow. While at Murray High School Megan was a KHSAA Sportsmanship
nominee, All-Region 2005 and in 2004 she was a member of the All-A Tournament
team. Megan is expected to see action as a catcher. Coach Kim Palmer is excited
to have Megan sign with the Saints.
"Megan is an extremely driven athlete. She suffered a knee injury that
should have kept her out of action for an extended period of time and she
dedicated herself to the rehab and returned to action rather quickly, that
shows she is a tough young lady. I like her attitude and drive that she possesses
to succeed. To overcome the injury and return to playing at the level in which
she did so quickly is remarkable. I think that she will come into SCC and
provide a lot of energy and leadership even though she will be a freshman.
We are excited to get a player with the fire and passion that she possesses.
I think with her determination and commitment she has a bright future."

a letter of intent to play softball at Shawnee Community College. She is the
daughter of Steve and Dixie Sweat. While at Harrisburg High School she was
a three-sport participant. She participated in volleyball, basketball and
softball. As a junior she received All-Conference Honors, The Sacrifice Award
and the Curt Felton WEBQ Award. Jamie is a versatile player who knows the
game of softball, as well as, the skill to play it. She has the potential
to play several infield positions and she also does some pitching.
"We liked her from the moment we met her. She is a delightful young lady
to be around and she is a competitor on the field," Coach Palmer said.
"She is very focused when she is out there and is driven to be the best
that she can be. I think with that attitude that she will continue get better
as she gains experience at this level. We are looking forward having Jamie
here at SCC with us."

Jessica Pickard, a senior at Marshall County
High School in Benton, KY, has signed a letter of intent to play softball
at Shawnee Community College. She is the daughter of Roger and Karan Pickard.
While at Marshall County Jessica was a member of the softball team for four
years where she received the highest batting average award. She was a member
of HOSA for three years and a health career student. Jessica is expected to
be a utility player here at Shawnee. She has experience on the outfield, infield
and is capable of pitching as well.
"Jessica is an extremely versatile athlete. She will be primarily looked
at to contribute in the outfield, but she could also see some time in the
circle. We are excited to get a player with the versatility that she possesses.
I think with her speed and athletic ability she could be very successful here
at SCC," Coach Palmer said.
