VerdanaC Offers New Scholarship

Shawnee Community College is now offering the “Shawn Bridges Scholarship,” sponsored by Roy “Buddy” and Vicki Walls. If selected for the “Shawn Bridges Scholarship,” the student would be required to maintain full-time status, and work at least ten hours per week. The applicant must have graduated from a high school in Shawnee College’s District with a “C” average or better. The applicant must submit a letter along with their application giving a brief life history, their need for the scholarship, and their long-term educational and future career goals.
            Once all materials are received, the selection committee will review submissions and make a decision for the fall semester. Preference will be given to students who have the greatest unmet financial need and are graduates of the five county area.
            In order for the student to keep the scholarship a second semester, they need to earn twelve credit hours the previous semester, and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. The scholarship will be in the amount of $4,000, which will be applied towards tuition, fees, books, transportation, and housing ($2,000 per year or $1,000 per semester (fall/spring)).
