Verdanaints Read Celebration

The SAINTS READ program at Shawnee Community College wrapped up at SCC Homecoming Feb. 17 with a great SAINTS READ Celebration. All Saints Read participants were invited to a pizza party and to watch the SCC basketball games. Twenty-eight of the 51 students were able to attend the celebration with parents and grandparents. They read an appropriate number of books for their grade level and kept reading logs from October through January. They returned their reading logs to SCC to document their completion. Together, they read a total of 1,813 books!!! During the Celebration, the participants ate free pizza, received a certificate of honor, had their picture made with BERNIE, and had VIP seating during the game! To top it all off, their name went into a drawing for a free SCC jacket and autographed basketball! Winners of the SCC jackets were: Kalen Cox and Jabare Patrick. Winners of the autographed basketballs were:  Hope Hutchison and Angel Trandel. Coach Sparks provided every participant who completed the program with a coupon for half off SCC Summer Basketball Camp as well!
