SAINTS READ Begins Second Year of Reading

Shawnee Community College is happy to announce the literacy initiative SAINTS READ will begin its second year very soon. Students in grades K-6 in the Shawnee Community College District have been invited to take part in this reading program. Students are asked to keep Reading Logs from November through January.

Following three months of meeting their reading goals, students will be invited to a Reading Celebration at Shawnee Community College, Feb. 23. The celebration will include a free pizza party with drawings for free prizes such as SCC jackets, autographed basketballs, free passes to summer basketball camp and many others. Students will have their picture taken with "Bernie," the SCC Mascot. They will have VIP seating at the Homecoming basketball game with their families. They will leave with a certificate of recognition signed by "Bernie" and the president of Shawnee Community College.

This literacy initiative is sponsored by SCC Future Teachers Organization and SCC Athletics.
