Shawnee Routes Bethel JV in Home Opener

The Saints jumped on Bethel JV early and never looked back. It was a great atmosphere in the gymnasium with an enthusiastic crowd that has been anxiously waiting for basketball season at Shawnee. The Saints started out with a 20–0 run and then went on a 26-10. Shawnee led 46-11 at the half.
The Saints were led in scoring by the sharp shooting of Matt Karn and Jamie Guyton who sparked the Saints early run. It was Ray Nelson that kept the Saints on pace with 10 points, 8 assist, 6 rebounds, & 6 deflections. The Saints had a total team effort with all eleven players scoring. Freshman Devon Irven sparked the Saints off the bench with 8 points, 10 rebounds, & 3 assist. “This young guy will to continue to improve. I was very pleased by his effort tonight.” Coach Sparks commented.
The Saints connected on 10 three pointers, Karn 7, Spivey 2, & Guyton 1. They also connected on eight dunks on the break and in half court. “The crowd really likes to see guys throw it down and it makes it an exciting atmosphere to play in. We have some pretty good athletes and I would like to them play above the rim even more.” Coach Sparks commented.
The Saints face Forest Park on Tuesday, November 7th at home with a 7:30 tip-off.
