Shawnee Community College offering Introduction to Phlebotomy 9/15/08
Phlebotomy is the act of drawing blood either for testing or transfusion. It is a skill employed by physicians and many professionals in allied health fields, including nurses, medical assistants, and clinical laboratory scientists.
Introduction to Phlebotomy will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 20th through November 12th from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Metropolis Regional Education and Training Center in Metropolis. Health care is a rapidly expanding industry and a phlebotomist professional helps to reduce the workload of doctors and nurses by focusing exclusively on blood collection, particularly in hospitals and blood drives.
Class size is limited to 10 students and registration is encouraged. Students may register at the Metropolis Regional Education and Training Center or the main campus near Ullin. For more information contact Carol Belt, Allied Health Division Chairperson/Director of Nursing at 618-634-3277.
