Nursing Instructor
Named Teacher of the Year
5/2/06
Nursing Instructor Nancy Gammons was named the Southern
Illinois Business Education Association "Teacher of the Year" for
2006.
Business, Occupational and Technical Division Chairperson Phyllis Sander nominated
Nancy for this award. "I nominated Nancy Gammons because of her extensive
education background, participation and leadership in professional organizations
dealing with business education, in addition to her published works, which
earned her the IBEA Writers Hall of Fame Award several years in a row."
Nancy said she was very pleased to receive this honor. "I am honored
to be selected by my peers in business education for this award. It is a great
privilege for me to teach and promote vocational education programs."
Nancy has 14 years of teaching experience, and is part of the allied health
instruction at SCC. The quality instruction at SCC is evident in the graduates'
success record. The nursing department pass rate percentage from the Practical
Nursing Program is 94%, compared to the national pass rate of only 89%.
The Southern Illinois Business Education Association
is an affiliate of the Illinois Business Education Association. Members hold
