Greg Sullivan, executive director of the Illinois Sheriff's Association, presented a plaque from Reppert Publications to Johnson County Sheriff Elry Faulkner for his dedicated service to law enforcement. Faulkner is the longest serving sheriff in the history of Illinois, according to the award. The presentation was made today at Shawnee Community College during "A Salute to Law Enforcement," the theme for the Southernmost Business Review's quarterly business luncheon.
SCC Criminal Justice Instructor Paul Echols gave the event's keynote address. Echols spoke about the importance of communication and cooperation in order to achieve success.
Also, Chief Judge Mark Clarke spoke; Illinois State Police Lt. Steven Shields also presented an award to Faulkner; and Dr. Kimberly Kempf-Leonard, SIUC professor, spoke about the economic impact of law enforcement in Southern Illinois.
