Donated Books
Strengthen Local History Section of SCC Library
6/19/06
In memory of her late husband Robert, Shirley
Shearer recently donated a five-volume series of history books focusing on
Pulaski County to the Shawnee Community College Library. "Illinois, The
Heart of the Nation" was written by Hon. Edward F. Dunne and published
in 1933. The books will be housed in the Local History Research section of
the library.
SCC Librarian Tracey Johnson is grateful for the donation to the library.
"We are delighted to make this addition to our local history collection."
The current collection includes books, magazines, and oral history transcripts
and files. Books include family histories, cemetery records, military records,
county histories, city histories, and more. The local history research area
also includes a microfilm reader/printer and a microfiche reader.
All items in the local history section are non-circulating pieces in an effort
to retain their historical value and community members are invited to view
the books on campus.
