Kidz College Summer at SCC

Do you need a fun, learning experience for your children this summer? Send them to KIDZ College at Shawnee Community College! KIDZ College is designed to enhance learning in areas of interest for all students who have completed 1st-4th grade within the Shawnee College district. This summer we are focusing on five areas of interest: crafts, fitness, computers, Native American studies and the martial arts!
KIDZ College will be offered Mon. - Thurs., July 10-13 for students entering 2nd & 3rd grade; and July 17-20 for students entering 4th & 5th grade.
CRAFTY KIDZ (Arts/Crafts) will learn to do bead art. Students will learn to make key rings, friendship bracelets and more! They will also be introduced to string-art design.
Do you love games, sports and having fun? Go for the gold this summer at SCC with FIT KIDZ (Fun with physical fitness and nutrition) and have fun while keeping fit!
COMPUTER KIDZ (Technology, writing) will learn how to use computers to publish your work; make your own website; e-mail; safely use internet sites.
KARATE KIDZ (Physical fitness, self-discipline, and self-defense, physical, mind coordination) will have a fun introduction to the martial arts!
NATIVE AMERICAN KIDZ (A study of the Native American culture) will take on a Native American name for a week, write stories using Native American symbols, do Native American crafts, and possibly cook Indian fry bread! Students will also view real Native American artifacts and learn a real Indian dance!
The cost for Kidz College is $40.00/child ($35.00 for each additional child in your immediate family). Registration forms will be sent home with all children in public schools in May. (Limited scholarships are available. Call for an application.) The last day to register for Kidz College is Friday, June 23. Classes will fill quickly! Enroll today!

Other summer camps for kids at SCC include a Drama Camp and Basketball Camp both the week of June 12-16. Drama camp is for children interested in acting or performing with two sessions for two age groups: 9 a.m. to noon for ages 8 - 12 and 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 13 - 17. Brad Stamp will be the guest director again this year. The cost of Drama Camp is $45. Basketball Camp will emphasize team work, fundamentals, and hard work while having fun. Basketball is designed for students entering grades 3 - 8. The cost is $35.
