SCC Journalism Staff Attends Chicago Conference

Members of the Shawnee Community College Tempo staff attended the Illinois Community College Journalism Association's spring conference in Chicago in April. Several Tempo staff members received several awards, including four first place designations. Shawnee's Tempo is a student newspaper published four times per semester. Students select, write, edit and layout stories for the with the aid of SCC journalism advisor, Kylie Price-Stalides.

The Shawnee College Foundation makes available three full-time scholarships for Tempo staffers that cover tuition, fees and book loans. Students must be residents of the college district with solid writing skills and an interest in journalism to qualify for the scholarships.
