Shawnee College Receives HHS Grant

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Shawnee Community College, located in Ullin, has been awarded a $70,662 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will be used to provide scholarships to disadvantaged students.

"These are important resources to help students obtain a higher education," said Costello. "This assistance is especially critical during a tough economy. A quality education will prepare these students for the rigors of the job market, and students are turning to our community colleges to do this as affordably as possible."
