Scruples International Presentation
Pictured: Michelle Salvatore, Veronica Rogers, Terry Manus, and Jesse Koenig.
Stylist Veronica Rogers of Scruples International recently entertained and educated 55 area cosmetologists at the Shawnee Community College's Annual Hair Seminar.
Rogers, along with Scruples International stylists Michelle Salvatore and Jesse Koening, performed near-magic on a dozen models throughout the day, including an introduction to the Illusionist color element.
Rogers brought over 20 years of experience as a hairdresser, colorist, trainer, and sales person to center stage. Her knowledge and sincere passion for the industry, plus a high-energy performance motivated and inspired the audience to share her attitude: "Yes, it's my job, but it isn't work!"
Seminar participants qualified for seven Continuing Education Units and earned college credit. In addition 20 current SCC cosmetology students were able to take advantage of the instructional show. The SCC Cosmetology department sponsors the annual event.
With the fall semester well underway, SCC cosmetology students are available to provide salon services to public patrons from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Chemical services including perms and coloring must be started by 12:30 p.m. The 20 station lab is located on the main campus near Ullin.
After completing initial training, the students offer a variety of salon services including cuts and perms, under the supervision of cosmetology teachers. Need more than a cut and perm? The SCC lab students offer color, waxing, manicures and much more. A complete cosmetology service price list is available at www.shawneecc.edu. Senior citizens and students qualify for special discounts.
For more information on the lab services or about a career in cosmetology, call instructor Terry Manus, at 618-634-3255.
