NEW BUILDING WILL SERVE REGION 8/29/08
(Left to right) Dr. Larry Peterson, president of Shawnee Community College; Dr. Jack Hill, retired president of Shawnee Community College; Carol Belt, nursing department chair at Shawnee Community College; and Guy Alongi, chair of the Illinois Community College Board, participated in a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the construction of a new Veterinary Technology building on the campus of the Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM) in Herrin. The new facility will be 3,200 square feet and will house a classroom, laboratory, operating room, pre- and post-op room, x-ray facilities, and offices. Estimated to be completed for the spring 2009 semester, current and future veterinary technology students from member institutions, which include Southern Illinois University and community colleges throughout Southern Illinois, will have full access to the new facility.
