Shawnee Community College to offer OSHA Forklift Certification Workshop
02/21/07
Current OSHA standards governing forklifts and powered industrial equipment requires all employees, including supervisory personnel, who operate a powered industrial truck to be properly trained and authorized to do so. This program will cover basic forklift principles, safe operations, safe driving skills, proper inspections and maintenance. The training exceeds the current OSHA regulations governing required forklift operator training (29 CFR 1910.178).
Two forklift workshops will be offered at SCC this spring. A class for individuals with no previous experience will be offered on April 13-14. This class will run from noon until 4 p.m. on April 13 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. Participants will earn one credit hour. The cost is $130 including lunch on Saturday.
In addition, a one-day workshop for individuals with forklift experience will be offered on Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will earn 1/2 credit hour. The fee for the class is $65, including workshop materials and lunch.
Pre-registration for both classes is required and a 24 hour cancellation notice is obligatory. Direct billing to companies is available. Registration is limited. For more information or to register, contact Joyce Davault at 618-634-3309.
