Celebrating Young Writers Essay Contest
Deadline for Entry is Feb. 5th, 2010

High School students throughout the Shawnee Community College district are invited to participate in a writing contest sponsored by the college. Celebrating Young Writers will recognize the literary skills of area high school students in three categories: short fiction, poetry, and research essay. Original work will be judged by college faculty in two divisions: 9th/10th grade and 11th/12th grade. The submission deadline is Friday, February 5, 2010. There is no entry fee.

Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and all entrants will be celebrated at a reception on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in the Shawnee Community College Educational Center located on the main campus near Ullin. Divisional winners will receive $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place.
