Shawnee Community College announces the formation of a new business driven group, Shawnee Regional Economic Alliance, to help move the region forward in maintaining and attracting businesses. This group will review the current business environment and formulate strategies for competitively positioning the region as a location of choice in building, expanding, and attracting businesses and creating jobs. The group met for its first meeting on February 6, 2015.
The group also will discuss key priorities in several critical areas, including economic and workforce development, public policy and incentives, and transportation and infrastructure needs. According to Dr. Tim Bellamey, President of Shawnee Community College, "It is critical for the success of the college to take a more proactive approach in building a strong business driven economic development effort for our residents and students to have sustainable jobs to support their families." As part of this process, SCC has engaged Dr. Ronda Sauget, MBA, who has a proven track record of success in building economic development teams to help this group get started on a positive path.
The Alliance group plans to meet again in early April to develop key priorities that can be achieved in advancing the region forward. For more information, contact Dr. Tim Bellamey, SCC President, at 618-634-3200 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
