Foundation Dinner Auction Success

The Shawnee Community College Foundation "Dollars for Scholars" Dinner Auction was one of the largest, most-profitable dinner auctions the SCC Foundation has hosted. Almost 200 people attended the event held in the SCC Atrium March 11. The packed crowd bid on silent items, as well as live items, raising more than $21,000 that will go toward student scholarships.

Guest speaker Dr. Glenn Poshard spoke about how much a scholarship can impact a student's life. The Foundation also honored one of its past members, Mrs. Martha VanCleve, for her time and dedication to the college and the Foundation.
Foundation Director Jeff Wiggs was very pleased with the outcome of the event. "I thought the auction ran smoothly and I hope everyone had a good time that attended. The money raised will definitely help the foundation with its mission of improving the educational experience of our students."

The dinner auction is one of two annual events put on by the SCC Foundation. The SCC Golf Classic, which also contributes to scholarships, is held each June.
