SCC Dairy Judging Team Places in National Competition

Louisville, KY - The SCC Dairy Judging Team competed in its first competition, the North American International Livestock Exposition, held on November 3-5 in Louisville, Kentucky. The team was recognized as the 7th place team in the nation in the 2-year college division and was one of only two teams to place from the state of Illinois.

Team members included Evan Webb of McClure, IL, Brandon Blaney of Tamms, IL, Jordan Gage of Goreville, IL, Brian Koch of Brookport, IL, and coach and Ag Instuctor Kevin Rhodes. In the competition, participants were asked to place ten classes of dairy cows and heifers of various breeds. Afterwards each participant presented a detailed oral reasoning for their placing of the animals.

In preparation for the competition, the team visited a Walquist Dairy Farm in Belknap, IL and spent many hours studying videos and text to hone their skills. The team is anxiously awaiting spring competitions.
