Curt Jones Shares His Story with Area Youth
During a visit to Shawnee Community College, Curt Jones, inventor and, most famously, the creator of Dippin Dots spoke to area high school students about his entrepreneur experiences, noting his early failures that led to the successful enterprise for which he is famous. Jones listened intently to the students' business plan ideas, offering tips for improvement, and perhaps more importantly, inspiring them to move forward with their business ideas.
Jones attended Shawnee Community College and then went on to receive a master's degree in Microbiology from Southern Illinois University. It was during 1987, while researching various freezing techniques for the large scale commercial preservation of bacteria and enzymes, that Curt developed the idea behind Dippin' DotsŪ Ice Cream. By utilizing liquid nitrogen in a quick-freeze process, a unique, high-quality ice cream novelty was born that has proven to be very popular in a competitive marketplace.
