SCC 2008 Commencement Ceremony Plans

The annual Commencement Ceremony will take place May 16, and will honor several members of the SCC community.

The Alumni of the Year recipient will be Shane Parker, better known as the radio personality "Bear on the Air." A 1977 SCC graduate, Bear is currently the afternoon drive time radio personality for WKYQ in Paducah, and is active on the SCC Foundation Board.

The Business Partnership of the Year will be Harrah's Casino in Metropolis. Shawnee Community College and Harrah's Metropolis Casino & Hotel are partnering together to offer Harrah's Metropolis employees college credit for on-site training classes taught at the casino. This partnership allows Harrah's staff to acquire college credits for existing training programs at no charge and in a convenient location.
