A+ Certification-COM 244 Course at SCC
Shawnee Community College will be offering the A+ Certification class in a condensed time frame during the Summer 2014 Semester. Also, for the first time, local high school juniors and seniors are being invited to enroll. During the course, students will build two computers and two lucky students will win those computers.
This class, COM 244, is a course of study involved with the hardware and software aspects of a digital computer system. Not only will students earn three semester hours of college credit, they will also be prepared to take the CompTIA A+ Certification test. A+ Certification includes topics related to system components, digital storage concepts, optical storage concepts, communication concepts, printer and monitor operations, DOS/Windows system operation, and PC repair and software tools.
This 3 credit hour course is normally offered in the spring and fall semesters at SCC. However, in this condensed format, students will attend for four hours each day, five days per week, for four weeks. It takes place Monday-Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning July 7th and ending August 1st. The course will be taught by Jerry Ainsworth, the Business, Occupational and Technology Division Chair, who is both A+ and Network+ certified.
