SCC Sponsors Clay Shoot 3/20/08
The Agriculture and Natural Resources Program at Shawnee Community College recently held a student benefit at Arrowhead Lodge in Wolf Lake, IL. Nearly fifty in attendance participated in a simulated duck hunt clay shoot. Prizes were awarded to the top three two-person teams. Ethan Miller and Hunter McReynolds finished in 1st place and received a two day hunt at Arrowhead Lodge. Tyler Hess and Larry Willis finished 2nd, and received one-hundred dollars cash and Jeremy Smith and Dustin Ayers finished 3rd receiving fifty dollars in cash.
Participants enjoyed a delicious pork chop dinner, raffle prizes and great weather. Local business and industry sponsored the duck blinds and played a major role in raising funds that will benefit agriculture and natural resource students at Shawnee Community College.
Gold ($500) level sponsors included: Lafarge Corporation of Grand Chain, Grand Chain; Dr. and Mrs. Larry Peterson of Goreville and ADM/Growmark of Mound City. Silver ($250) level sponsors included: Southern FS of Marion,
Consolidated Grain and Barge Company of Mound City; Hunting Traditions of Anna, and River Ag of Metropolis. Bronze level sponsors included: Rusty's Home Center of Anna and Vienna, Anna-Jonesboro National Bank of Anna, Buyafarm.com of Sparta, Mark and Janice Eddleman Farms of Dongola, Lane and Lu Rhodes of Wolf Lake.
Members of Shawnee and Anna-Jonesboro FFA Chapters participated along with SCC Ag students. SCC would like to extend special thanks to Randy Myers and the staff at Arrowhead and also to Kirk Keene of Showtime Creations in Anna for donating hats for all participants. Proceeds from this event provide scholarship funds for students pursuing degrees at SCC in Agriculture and Natural Resources.
