16th Annual SCC Car Show

Ben Schlegel of Cape Girardeau, MO, won the Top Point Award at the 16th Annual SCC Car Show earlier this month. The winning entry, a 1992 Chevy Pick-up, earned Schlegel the top prize of a six foot trophy, $100 and a gift basket from Capaha Bank of Tamms.
This year's show had 196 vehicle entries. There were forty-nine classes for awards with one class for non-judged vehicles. Each class received a three-foot first, second and third place trophy. Approximately 2,500 people attended the show.

The following individuals were awarded 5-year participation awards:Jim Duff , West Frankfort; Ray & Jackie Helm, Murray, KY; Thomas Horn, Jr., Whitewater, MO; Russell Magness, Paducah, KY; Ray Sperling, Harrisburg, and Ron Spooler, Jackson, MO.
The following recipients received a five-foot trophy.

Best Ford:
David Malone Villa Ridge, IL 1967 Mustang

Best GM:
David Dukes Golconda, IL 1967 Chevy pick-up

Best Mopar:
John & Cathy Schmidt Effingham, IL 1970 Plymouth Superbird

Best Paint:
Jim Sharp Paducah, KY 2001 Chevy Corvette Z06

Best Graphics:
Josh French Reagan, TN 1998 Dodge Dakota

Each of these bests received a five-foot trophy and $75.

Best of Show Car:
Joe Stevenson North Pekin, IL 1956 Chevy Belair

Best of Show Truck:
Roger Dallape Harrisburg, IL 1969 Chevy Pick-up

Best of Show Gold (trailered):
Thomas & Sandra Cissell Mayfield, KY 1958 Chevy Impala

Two car show-themed quilts were given away at the show. The quilts featured pictures of past SCC Car Show prize winning vehicles. The winner of the raffle was Roger Dallape of Harrisburg. The auctioned quilt went to Sandy Johnston of Jonesboro. Proceeds from the car show benefit the Automotive Technology Department and the SCC Car Club student organization.
