Pope County's Butler Signs with Saints

Recent Pope County graduate Jake Butler has signed a letter of intent to join the Shawnee Community College Saints for the 2010-11 baseball season. Although Butler is attending on a SCC baseball scholarship, he will have more than the sport on his mind. He plans to seek an associate of engineering science degree. Butler maintained a 3.7 GPA as a Pope County Pirate as a member of both the baseball and basketball team. He also participated in the art club, Future Farmers of America and maintained honor roll status throughout his high school career, earning him membership in the National Honor Society.
