Motivational Speaker Bob Love Returns to SCC

5/12/08

Shawnee Community College invites the public to attend a free presentation by Bob Love, Director of Community Affairs for the Chicago Bulls at 10 a.m., May 22, 2008 in the SCC Educational Center.

Most of his life, Love stumbled over words and often couldn't say anything at all. This is a particular problem when you are in the spotlight, as Love was for eight years as star player for the Chicago Bulls basketball team. For seven of the pro basketball season from 1968 to 1976, Love led in scoring. Today he ranks as second leading scorer in Bulls history, behind Michael Jordan. Love's success on the basketball court was always tampered by his stuttering. In fact, he never dreamed he would be able to talk as most people do. When the 6'8" star retired from basketball, he tried for seven years to find a steady job. He finally landed one in 1984 as a dishwasher.

Bob's speech will tell the rest of his story and motivate students to keep trying. For more info, contact Monica Brahler, 618-634-3322.
