Student Academic Success is Highlighted at March Meeting

The College Bowl team at Shawnee Community College has advanced to the state competition. The five-member team is currently undefeated and would like to win the state title. "This has been an awesome season," sponsor Rhonda Dillow said. "They are true scholars and need your support on the road to the big one." Current College Bowl team members are Nathan Holden, Anna; Adam Johnson, Vienna; Jacqueline Landreth, Vienna; Allen Morrow, Elco; and Kevin Widdows, Alto Pass.

The 2005 Lady Saints Volleyball team at SCC recently received notice of being named the Fall Academic Team-of-the-Year in the nation at the Division II level. This nation-wide honor is due to the Lady Saints for achieving academic excellence throughout the season. The team finished the fall semester with a 3.69 GPA. Coach Mike Fitzgerald said he could not be more proud of the team. "These girls worked hard to keep up their grades and have a winning season. Their efforts paid off by having the team tie for the top GPA in the nation."

The Shawnee Community College Volleyball team finished in 3rd place at the Region 24 Tournament held at Parkland College and finished the season ranked 24th in the nation, with a record of 35-17.
