Shawnee Offers Paraprofessional and Basic Skills Preparation

Shawnee Community College will offer preparation for Paraprofessional Testing and Basic Skills Testing this summer at the Anna Extension Center. The course will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning June 9th and concluding on July 3rd.

EDU130 Paraprofessional Testing and Certification Prep is a preparation course for individuals who wish to become certified as an instructional teacher's aide. The course prepares students who wish to take the WorkKeys Exam, a state-approved test. By passing the WorkKeys Exam students will become certified Paraprofessionals according to NCLB requirements. The WorkKeys Exam will be given on July 8 at 9 a.m. on the main SCC campus. Participants must prepay and register for the exam by June 24th.

This course also prepares students to take the Illinois Test of Basic Skills for Teacher Education programs. For more information about WorkKeys test registration, call Sharon Walker at 618-634-3235.
