Financial Education Class
Shawnee Community College has launched a new financial
education program for low-income adults and young parents. Students
can sign up for the free class today, or just show up for any class!
Through the program, participants will receive helpful advice and discover
new ways to achieve your financial goals.
The "Your Money & Your Life" curriculum
offers low- and moderate-income people a chance to learn the skills
they need, including how to: manage debt and establish good credit,
save money for a car, business, home or education, avoid predatory lending,
receive the Earned Income Tax Credit, and use services offered by mainstream
financial institutions.
The classes will run 6 to 8 p.m., June 14, 16,
21, 23, 28 and 30 on the SCC main campus and are open to anyone interested.
The program is sponsored by SCC Adult Education and the First State
Bank of Olmstead.
Join the program today and start saving for your
future. For more information, please call James Darden at 618-634-3325.
Drawing for one $50 savings account at the First
State Bank of Olmsted will be given away during one class (must be present
