Vienna Student Signs with SCC
Corey Huckelberry signed a letter of intent to
play for the Shawnee Saints on Saturday, May 14, 2005. Corey was a key
component on a Vienna Eagles team that won the regional for the 1st
time since 1976.
Corey averaged 15 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.7
assist per game. He helped lead his team to a 19 -15 record this past
season. Corey has posted career highs of 23 points, 11 rebounds, and
10 assist.
"He is a hard working player who is very athletic.
He thrives in the open court which is a perfect fit for the Saints,"
Vienna Head Coach Rick Metcalf said. "He helped lead us to 19 wins
and our first Regional Title since 1976. I think he will be a great
addition to the Saints because of his winning attitude."
"I've known Corey for several years, he's
hung around our program and I'm glad he chose to stay close to home
to be a Shawnee Saint," SCC Coach John Sparks said. "He's
a great person who absolutely loves basketball. It was an easy decision
for me when it came time to offer Corey a scholarship. He's a basketball
fanatic; he breathes, sleeps, and eats basketball. I believe Corey has
a bright future because he has a passion for this game. We are glad
to have him here at Shawnee Community College."
