Local Artist on Display at Anna Extension Center

Shawnee Community College now has a collection of paintings on display in the front lobby area of its Anna Extension Center. SEMO graduate Jake Wells of Cape Girardeau will have many pieces decorating the walls of Anna throughout the semester.
Wells focuses his art on abstraction, with a lot of representational aspects. He integrates concepts into his art to have "more than just a pretty picture," Wells said. One concept he incorporated in several of his paintings on display is the idea of men wanting to reconnect with nature. One painting shows men in cave scenery, which is based on caves he visited in a man chasing a deer through a yellow and green field.
