Summer School for High School Credit
For high school seniors and juniors in search of making
up for lost credit in order to graduate on time, Shawnee Community College
has the answer for you. In cooperation with the Regional Office of Education,
SCC will be offering English, Math and Social Studies courses for the summer.
Courses are available in two different sessions, from
June 20 to July 8 and July 11 to July 29. The first or second semester course
may be taken during either session, with a student being able to earn .5
credit per session. No more than one class can be taken during a session.
Orientation will be the first day of each session at
8:30 a.m. in the SCC Educational Center on the Main Campus near Ullin. Both
summer sessions will meet 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
on the SCC campus.
Specific courses being offered in English are English
2, 3 and 4; courses in Math are General Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra
II and Geometry; courses in Social Studies are U.S. History, American Government,
Economics, Resource Management and Career Prep.
Because of cost and space limitations, summer school
is only being offered to 2004-2005 seniors and juniors, with sophomores
being placed on a waiting list if space becomes available. Freshmen will
not be eligible for summer school. For further information or to register,
contact Dave Smith, SCC Summer School Supervisor at 1-800-481-2242 ext.
3319 or Kim Bone at the Regional Office of Education at 1-800-322-1239 or
