Lady Saints Win First Game of Tourney

During the first game of the Region 24 Tournament this morning, the SCC Lady Saints (6th seed) beat Lewis and Clark (3rd seed) 8-4. The game started out with the Lady Saints leading 3-1 in the first inning, with Jessica Pitts (14-10) pitching. Leading hitters for the Lady Saints were Jennifer Dickey, batting 2-4 with two doubles and two RBI, and Ashley Jones batting 1-2 with a triple that brought in three runs in the sixth inning.

"After not playing for a week, the Lady Saints came out and played very well on both sides of the ball," Head Coach Kim Palmer said. "I'm proud of them for the way they played and for how they did not let the seeds dictate how we would play." The current season record is 24-21-2.

The Lady Saints will play again tomorrow at 8 a.m. against the winner of the John Wood v Lincoln Land.
