New Ambassadors Chosen
The 2005-2006 Ambassadors have been chosen to receive
a full scholarship at Shawnee Community College. The Student Ambassadors
are made up of 15 students that represent each high school in the SCC district.
Newly appointed ambassadors are Megan Hileman, Anna Jonesboro High School;
Bernard Richards, Shawnee High School; Seth Maze, Goreville High School;
Christopher Dexter, Century High School; Tessa Davis, Cairo High School;
Ezra Waddy, Meridian High School.
Ambassadors returning for another year are: Mindy Martin,
Anna-Jonesboro High School; Adam Waller, Vienna High School; Sarita Faulkner,
Vienna High School; Stephanie Foss, Massac High School; Raymond Walker,
Massac High School; William Roney, Dongola High School; Pamela Cast, Cobden
High School; Amy Poole, Egyptian High School; Ashlin Wilke, Joppa High School.
Ambassadors play a very visible role at the college
- assisting in student recruitment, serving as ambassadors to area high
schools, being a role model to other traditional students and participating
in numerous cultural events at the college and in the community. To be eligible,
a student must be a graduate of a high school located in the SCC district,
enrolled in an academic program and not enrolled at another college. Ambassadors
receive a scholarship that covers tuition, fees and book loan expenses.
The 2005 SCC Ambassadors were recently praised by North
Central Association for the strength of the program. NCA said the program
could be a national model for other ambassador programs.
