Southeastern Regional Trustees Meeting

The Southeastern Regional Board of Trustees meeting was held at Shawnee Community College Monday April 18. Representatives from John A. Logan, Rend Lake Shawnee and Southeastern Illinois were all present. Mike Monaghan, ICCTA Executive Director, presented to the board members a legislative update, including funding issues for the upcoming fiscal year. Monaghan stated that community colleges will be facing funding problems in the next few years because of the state's economy. He suggested that one way to overcome these budgeting concerns is to increase tuition for students.

This meeting also gave the each college president a chance to share the variety of new grants, initiatives and dynamic events going on at their respective college.
