Local Artist on Display
Local artist Bob Pina has several paintings hanging in
the Shawnee Community College Anna Extension Center throughout the month of
April.
"Something catches my eye, usually the contrast of
shadow and light, on buildings in town, or an old-fashioned water tower
against a summer sky, or a basket of peppers and tomatoes fresh from the
garden. I'm compelled to take photos, hoping they will become inspiration
for future paintings," said artist Bob Pina of Zeigler, Illinois.
Pina has called Southern Illinois home most of his
life, and many of his paintings capture the natural beauty and historic
charm of the region. He interprets the scenes that inspire him as works
of fine art that come alive with texture, impressionist-inspired color,
and realistic detail.
A musician and artist, Pina is also well known throughout
the region as an accomplished keyboard player and vocalist. He currently
appears every Friday and Saturday night at the Lombard Café in Herrin, Illinois.
