SCC Student Scholarship
Applications Due
Shawnee Community College offers over 47 different
types of scholarships to well deserving district students. The deadline
for application for many SCC scholarships is March 1. Opportunities include
scholarships based on academic, athletic, community activities, the arts
and special interests. Non-traditional, home schooled, military, and memorial
scholarships also assist students. Most Shawnee Community College scholarships
are based on grades and/or financial need. Students must complete a Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). When several applicants meet
the scholarship criteria, financial need will be considered. Many include
in-district tuition, fees and textbook loans. Students must meet scholarship
eligibility criteria as outlined in the SCC Financial Aid booklet available
from the SCC financial aid office.
Select SCC students also qualify to apply for a number of grants including
the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant,
Monetary Award Program, and the Illinois Incentive for Access grant. The
Federal Work-Study program gives students a chance to earn money while gaining
work experience. A limited number of positions are available.
Students are encouraged to complete the FASFA and SCC scholarship application
as soon as possible. SCC is here to help with College Goal Sunday, which
will be Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m. in the Educational Center on the main
campus near Ullin. College Goal Sunday is a day to gather information and
complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the help
of financial aid experts.
